Palm Sunday, Another Triumphant Prophecy From Scripture

This week begins Passion Week and ends with the most important day for Christians, Resurrection Sunday.

An important thing to note on this Palm Sunday is that Jesus’ entry to Jerusalem was foretold 300 years before in the Book of Daniel of the Old Testament - to the day! Daniel said that He would come in seven plus sixty-two weeks or sixty-nine weeks of seven years, four hundred eighty three years after the commandment to rebuild the Temple. Using Jewish calendars with three hundred sixty days per year, that equals one hundred seventy three thousand, eight hundred eighty days. This is the exact day that Jesus triumphantly entered Jerusalem and basically was announced by the people quoting Psalm 188 say Hosanna! What are the odds? March 14, 445 B.C. was when the commandment went out and March 14, 32 A.D. was the fulfillment.

As we enter into this week, let us thank God for what He has done for us and for the confidence through fulfilled prophecy that He is Lord!

Daniel 9:24-27 (NASB)

Seventy Weeks and the Messiah

24 “Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place. 25 So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress. 26 Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. 27 And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.”

Zechariah 9:9 (NASB)

9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!

Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem!

Behold, your king is coming to you;

He is just and endowed with salvation,

Humble, and mounted on a donkey,

Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
